CELEBRATING 30 YEARS
SINCE THE LAUNCH 19 DECEMBER 1992
The images below were taken on one of the first flights Rodney Knobel, the developer, took over Cove Rock in 1988. Visualising the potential of the development, this became the beginning of a dream and a massive challenge for the future.
To fund the first phase of the development, close business friends of Rodney became shareholders of the new company called East London Industrial Properties (Pty) Ltd. Once the go ahead and approvals had been obtained from the various Government Departments, the roads and surveying began.

Despite the challenging and changing political circumstances in South Africa at the time, the building of the first home was completed and the official launch of the development, Cove Rock Country Estate, was on 19 December 1992.

By the mid 1990's the Cove Rock development was rapidly taking shape. Indigenous trees were planted along the roadways and around the tennis court, swimming pools and private open space.
